Pete Burns to marry Michael Simpson

pete burns and michael simpson Fresh from his big stint in the Big Brother Celebrity UK house, Dead or Alive singer Pete Burns has announced that he's tying the knot with his partner Michael Simpson. For those who watched Big Brother, Burns always had a photo of Simpson attached to his person throughout the series. The couple showed off their identical diamante skull rings - designed by Vivienne Westwood - live on Richard and Judy's show (pictured). Regarding the rings Burns explained, "It symbolises that underneath all this there is bone and underneath that is soul." On the show Burns also told the world, "I lost him a lifetime ago and I've been looking for him ever since. He's a physical part of me." It's enough to make a person misty.

Willie Nelson sings for gay cowboys

nelson Willie Nelson has released a new song about the kind of love that happens between two men on the wide open range. The Texas country music icon says of "Cowboys Are Frequently Secretly Fond of Each Other" that "the song's been in the closet for 20 years. The timing's right for it to come out. I'm just opening the door." Nelson recorded a song for the Brokeback Mountain soundtrack, a melancholy ballad entitled "He Was a Friend of Mine."

Two years ago, David Anderson, Nelson's friend and tour manager of three decades, told his boss that he's gay. Last year when Nelson recorded a batch of previously unreleased songs for iTunes, he discovered the song in a stack of demos he had tossed into a drawer. It was written in 1981 by Lubbock-born singer-songwriter Ned Sublette and Anderson says it's Willie's way of letting him know everything is ok. Lyrics such as "I believe to my soul that inside every man there's the feminine" and "What did you think all them saddles and boots was about?" are delivered deadpan, giving the song an air of seriousness. If you have iTunes, download the song here for only 99 cents. I have to say it's truly a classic. Nelson's song, according to the Dallas News (Thanks Dan-x), is the first gay-themed release by a major country music artist, but haven't there been others by women?

Milla Jovovich's lesbian secret love interest

jovovich I know you're excited to find out Milla Jovovich has spent time thinking about who her secret lesbian dream love is, and luckily for all of us it turns out that it's someone who ranks pretty high in the girl-most-likely-to department. That's right, the bisexual Courtney Love. I'm not sure, but I think Love has stalked people for less so stay tuned! Jovovich is currently in Berlin where she and Richard Gere hosted the Cinema for Peace Gala black tie bash - held in conjunction with the Berlin International Film Festival - a major fundraiser there in the fight against AIDS. And for those who are Resident Evil fans, Milla just signed on to kick even more ass in the third film in the series retitled "Resident Evil: Extinction".

· Nathan Lane held his 50th-birthday bash at the Rainbow Room and everybody sang for their supper. Matthew Broderick dedicated "Sonny Boy" to his "Odd Couple" spouse. Pink's Costa Rican wedding nixes lesbian rumors

pink We've watched Pink (aka Alecia Moore) give a lap dance to her lesbian assistant Laura Wilson and lock lips with "Terminator 3" star Kristanna Loken at Jimmy'z nightclub in Monaco. We've seen her for quite some time hanging out with the grrrlz - to which she explained, "I like strong, assertive, independent, tough women and they happen to be gay." Well you can put the kabosh on all of that now because she married motocross champ Carey Hart this weekend on a Costa Rican beach where she walked down the aisle barefoot to Billy Joel's "Always a Woman." They plan to spend their honeymoon snowboarding.

Pete Burns enters UK's Celebrity Big Brother house

pete burns It's a good thing they identify this beauty as Pete Burns, because I wouldn't have recognized the Dead or Alive singer otherwise. Burns gave the middle finger to the jeering crowd before entering the Celebrity Big Brother House, wearing a cream fake fur-rimmed coat and some serious stilettoes. “I feel like I’ve been fired out of a cannon,” Burns told TV personality Michael Barrymore. "I have got no problem with other people. It's usually them that's got a problem with me." Here's all the contestants.

Ember Swift isn't selling out

ember swift Having just returned from British Columbia, it's only fitting that I tell you about Ember Swift, the band named after lead singer-songwriter Ember Swift. Arriving at Toronto University in 1995 she met bandmate Lyndell Montgomery, who would go on to become an integral part of her musical world. With Swift's involvement in various areas of activism (queer, environmental, vegan) she wasn't interested in settling either. "I am not the type to hang back and wait for approval or permission to do what I love, and so it was a logical move to establish an independent record company (Few'll Ignite Sound) and release albums on my own," she said. "Otherwise, I could still be waiting in a queue for someone to decide to invest in my art. In other words, relinquishing my political and personal integrity in order to gamble for fame just seemed ludicrous to me and still does."

Were Morrissey and Johnny Marr lovers?

morrissey Morrissey has tried to put an end to the relatively endless speculation regarding whether he and Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr were lovers. The rumors have been in circulation since the song writing team joined forces in 1982 when Morrissey was approached by the guitarist. "There was a love and it was mutual and equal, but it wasn't physical,” Morrissey said. "There are lots of people post-Smiths who would like to make some dramatic homosexual story. There never was one."

Elton John tops Neiman Marcus Christmas list

elton john While I don't typically think of Elton John topping very many things, he is at the top of the Neiman Marcus' 79th annual Christmas Book catalogue, at least in terms of price. That's right, if you're looking for that extra special gift for that extra special someone, consider a 90-minute private concert by Sir Elton for a mere $1.5 million - proceeds going to the Elton John AIDS Foundation. You can bring along 500 guests if that helps sway your decision.

Kenny Chesney gay rumors fly as Zellweger calls marriage a fraud

chesney Renée Zellweger is suing her estranged husband of four months for fraud and an annulment of their marriage. Thus the rumors that her soon to be ex, the often rumored to be gay country music star Kenny Chesney, pictured, are once again kicking into high gear, particularly given that "fraud" and an actual annulment rather than a divorce, paint a portrait that most certainly implies not only a lack of honesty, but a failure to deliver the goods. Kenny's response? He's broken his silence to ask for privacy. [Related Entry]

antony hegarty Antony Hegarty of Antony and the Johnsons was surprised to win this year's Mercury Prize, despite all the critical acclaim being heaped on his second album, I Am A Bird Now. "I was really shocked. I just thought I was going to be like a nice sorbet: my role was to be a counterpoint to the main course, which was a role I'm comfortable with. I've never been the main course before," he said. The media aren't so sure what to make of it either. There is talk of "anger" and "bafflement" at Hegarty capturing the £20,000 award.

Hong Kong Women's Coalition A lesbian, bisexual and transgendered women's group called the Women's Coalition of Hong Kong received an anonymous, abusive and threatening letter along with items such as "paper money" used in Chinese rituals as offerings to the dead and strands of what appeared to be pubic hair. The letter, written in Chinese, referred to the group as "stinking homosexuals" and warned that the ghost of Anita Mui, a highly regarded deceased singer and actress who notably played androgynous roles, would be visiting them. As someone who enjoyed several of her films I personally wouldn't mind if she paid me a visit at all.

Playing too gay Wham song got DJ Andrew Cleeson assaulted

wham Roy Nash was sentenced to three months in jail for attacking a DJ for playing Wham's "Wake Me Up Before You Go Go" because he thought it made the club sound like a "gay night." DJ Andrew Cleeson had apparently heard previous complaints from Nash for playing songs that were "too gay" prior to Nash breaking his nose and putting him in the hospital. Another artist Nash couldn't put up with was David Bowie, whose songs were apparently “too gay” as well. Nash admitted the attack before he was sentenced. His lawyer said too much alcohol was to blame for the incident and that booze “brings out the worst in him."

Was Jimi Hendrix gay? Army discharge records say so

jimi hendrix photo The new Jimi Hendrix biography by Charles Cross called "Room Full of Mirrors" reveals a rather unexpected secret. According to official army records Hendrix was discharged for "homosexual tendencies." Cross says he wanted to leave the army so that he could be a musician and that he pretended to be gay so he could land a discharge. Hendrix's word on the departure was that he left the 101st Airborne Division in 1962 after being injured on a parachute jump. According to Cross and official records Hendrix told a base psychiatrist at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, that he had fallen in love with a fellow soldier. Could it have been more than a ploy? Who knows. Cross also says that Hendrix had a legendary appetite for women, including an affair with actress Brigitte Bardot.

Dusty Springfield's bisexual life becomes a musical

springfield Some of you may not be aware of Dusty Springfield's turbulent and envelope-pushing history. She was one of the first artists to refuse to play to segregated audiences in South Africa, and, in a particularly brave move for the times, she came out of the closet as bisexual in a 1970 interview. Springfield, who died of breast cancer of 1999, is the subject of a new Suzanne Fletcher musical, "A Girl Called Dusty," that has me thinking about taking a quick trip to P-Town to catch it. Maybe we'll all be lucky enough to see it tour following it's run there.

lemmy I know you're disappointed too, but it seems Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister of Motorhead is not bisexual after all. The rumor has been circulating for a few weeks, crediting VH1 as it's source, a fact I was completely unable to substantiate. I have kept an eye on the story though, cause he is rather hot in a rocker daddy Hell's Angel kind of way, not to mention all the other metal icons who've come out in recent years. Anyway, they claimed he had finally admitted he was bi. The story started making the rounds in metal land - and now it's been officially labeled as a hoax. Sad. It sure was fun to watch the metal community go into a state of shock though while it lasted.

George Michael and Elton John bury the hatchet

michael The feud between George Michael and Elton John has come to an end. I know, we're a little disappointed too, but Michael did have John over for an extra special dinner prepared by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey and Ramsey did alll the cooking while the pair laughed themselves silly. Perhaps they were recalling the time John told the press that George smoked too much blow because of a “deep-rooted unhappiness in his life." Or maybe they were laughing about the time George said John was living on yesterday's hits. Whatever the case, although John had previously tried to make up and George had ignored his phone calls, evidence of the truce can be found, of course, in John's agreement to let George to use their duet 1991 hit "Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me" on George's upcoming duets album, due out later this year.

Luther Vandross' gay life remained hidden to the end

vandross Legendary soulster Luther Vandross passed away on July 1. He was 54. Jason King explains that Vandross was, "a binge eater who swelled up if he lost a Grammy or a lover." What wasn't clear to anyone is that the lovers were male. Claiming it was the studio executives who kept Vandross in the closet, we do know that Vandross never came out as gay, bisexual or even straight for that matter, even if he did confess that his high school grades plummeted because he was in anguish over Diana Ross leaving the Supremes. King notes, "Vandross likely felt that confessing his sexual preference would destroy his crossover ambitions, and he was probably right."

Gay rumor about Tom Cruise and Rob Thomas escalates

Or something." Jossip has actually included the full email for your perusal as well. My favorite part?
