That's one expensive homophobic military policy
The financial costs to the U.S. military for discharging and replacing gay service members under the nation's "don't ask, don't tell" policy are nearly twice what the government estimated last year, according to a new University of California report. I find it odd that South Korea only discharged eight gay servicemen last year by comparison. Anyway, speaking of protecting the homeland, on the backs of people of color, I find it very disconcerting that the Justice Department asked a judge to approve Patriot Act e-mail monitoring without any evidence of criminal behavior - and instead of asking to eavesdrop on the contents of the e-mail messages, which would require some evidence of wrongdoing, prosecutors requested the identities of the correspondents. i wanted to respond to the post about being discharged for being gay. as if we wernt worried about all the other issues we have going on for us right now then there is this. i say it like that because it makes me sick to my stomache when i think about the fact that i can die for my country or should i say for baby bush's ego boosting issues but as soon as they find out im gay my partner doesnt get any of that $500,000 worth of life insurance. how wrong is that? the funniest thing is that no one has ever even thought to ask the service members what they think. i feel as thou i am caught between a love for a country that will never honor the vows i took in my small two bedroom apartment with my partner of now 5 years. and a love for a women that will never end. the only thing that i have going for me in this is the love of my life is very supportive and has never tried to make me choose. she understands that she cannot attend certin events with me however i always see the hurt in her eyes when i come home. now that i have straid from the subject no matter what anyone thinks the dont as dont tell poliecy will never be removed because it is impossible for someone who has a same sex preference to live in the same area as there preference.
