Bush gives $500 Million to fight gay marriage as deficit reduction tactic
President Bush signed legislation giving $500 million to faith-based programs to promote and strengthen opposite-sex marriage, a provision that's part of the deficit reduction bill passed by Congress. How this reduced the deficit is anybody's guess. Bush himself noted, “It allows faith-based groups that provide social services to receive federal funding without changing the way they hire,” Bush noted at the White House signing ceremony. Translation: We're giving money to groups that specifically discriminate in their hiring process. Assistant Health and Human Services Secretary Wade Horn said that the financial windfall is not intended to specifically oppose same-sex marriage, although the President is a major supporter of a proposed amendment to ban gay marriage in the Constitution. Like I said yesterday, Bill Frist is bringing it in June. Yep, it's happening all over again.

I am counting the days till 2008 when this idiot is finally gone from office. We here in Florida will be blessed with the departure of good ole Jeb soon and when George W leaves office, we can let out a sigh of relief that we are rid of the Bush's once and for all. And if another one shows up, PLEASE VOTE FOR ANY ONE ELSE, but another Bush.

Yeah right to democratic country w/ the word liberty, equality & anti-discrimination to Bush. Seems the President is a gay-hater. Many gay people voted for him too and he be better be thankful for the likes of us! Society is an ever evolving community & third sex is a part of its ever growing unit that can never be erased. See how picky the seemed-to-be-mr.-nice-guy when it comes to what the likes of them talks about what they call "norms", the unwritten law of the society. it's just like being racist as to being sexist.. same s to hypocrites... don't they just make your blood boil?

I think that 500 million should have gone someplace else since when does are goverment give money to a group that clear does not need it or should even get it. he should have giving it to aid reserch or to all the poor familys that have lost a loved one fighting his war for oil

Would someone please explain the Log Cabin Republicans to me? I can understand being conservative but the GOP no longer holds to those values. Why do gays cling to a political party that so despises them? Are they flaming masochists?

why is bush so scared of homosexuals. no gay guy would ever want that ugly ass so why is he so scared? he is really for equality isnt he? i just wish he'd stay out of other peoples business, i thought this was a free country anyways. a president is suppose to be a leader and do the right thing but he never does the right thing. maybe if the president starts accepting homosexuals then maybe the rest of this country would then it wouldn't be such a discriminating country.

Thanks God we still have some people with a level of morality to stand for true values. What President Bush is doing to fight Gay marriage is awesome, the whole world will pay tribute to him someday. I just hope the next prez will follow the current.

come over to the uk.
unemployment is low, and you can get hitched here.
i had a ceremony on valentines day this year (to my partner of 20 years). ok it would have been good if it was legal years ago, but you have to start somewhere.
the "marriage" takes place in a register office (or venue of your choice, though no churches) is as legal as a church or register office opposite sex marriage.
it means that we have all the same rights of inheritance tax exemption if one of us dies, rights to spouses pensions, the lot.
come over here to your cousins!

What ever happened to the word gay? It was something of innocence and happiness to be shared by all. Then somehow queers thought it would help them be excepted. Well I thank GOD that our precious President has not sold his morals the way yuppies and other so called liberals. If you have any spine left maybe you can also put something in here to tell the perverted queers.
