First Lady April Ashley tells her story
New York gossip Cindy Adams has revealed that April Ashley, pictured, who married a British aristocrat after her sex change operation in 1960, will be publishing her memoirs. Titled, "The First Lady," her book should be out later this year. Coauthor Douglas Thompson “promises juicy bits about Ashley’s juicy bits including…Elvis propositioning Ashley pre-operation and the fact that Ashley’s 1970 divorce forced a court to decide legally is a person male or female." The book will be released in Europe in May and will be available in the U.S. this fall.
