The Gayest Golden Globe Awards
"Call these the gay Globes," said TV Guide's Tom O'Neil before the show started and it turned out to be just that and then some. "Brokeback Mountain" won the Best Dramatic Film award last night at the 63rd Annual Golden Globe Awards. It was one of a handful of awards for the film that also captured Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Original Song. Felicity Huffman captured the Best Actress in a Motion Picture honors for her transgender role in "Transamerica" while Philip Seymour Hoffman won the Best Actor in a Drama award for his portrayal of gay writer Truman Capote. "Desperate Housewives" also won the ward for Best TV Series.

How the hell can it be a "gay" event if ALL the talent were actually STRAIGHT? If this isn't the best example of "taking any crumbs they throw you," I don't know what is. Just because the actors are PORTRAYING gay people doesn't mean you aren't still being dis'sed. Until they start hiring all those out-of-work gay actors to play themselves, the war is not won.

who cares if the actors are stright or gay i think its good that something for the gay community is up for so many awards> it shows the stright world that we arent any different then them

Both are good points. However, I believe it's wonderful when folks outside a minority group show their support by participating. Those actors could have easily refused.

Once again, you show that you're willing to take any crumbs tossed your way. Don't make me use that tired old "racial minority analogy" to get you to see this more clearly. If someone were pretending to be Black and won an academy award, would the Black community be praising them, saying that it's "wonderful when folks outside a minority group show their support by participating"? I think not. They'd say, "Hey! What about Haley Berry or Will Smith! They need jobs, and they deserve an award now and then!" You people need to grow up.
