Laura Prepon to play bisexual serial killer Karla Homolka
That '70s Show star Laura Prepon, pictured, has the lead role in the controversial new film about the life of bisexual serial killer Karla Homolka. "Karla" was actually to have made its debut last August at the Montreal World Film Festival, but was yanked at the last minute following complaints. Christal Films has announced it will release "Karla" on 100 screens across Canada on January 20. Misha Collins costars as her husband, Paul Bernardo. Homolka and Bernardo were convicted of torturing and murdering two Canadian schoolgirls in the early 1990s. Homolka also drugged her own 15-year-old sister, Tammy, and allowed Bernardo to rape the girl, who choked on her own vomit and died. Homolka is currently living in seclusion.

This autumn, monterey media will commence United States distribution of this sensational true crime drama Karla, beginning with nation wide theatrical engagements. A movie that provoked controversy in Canada during its successful nine-week Toronto theatrical run, Karla was an official selection of the Montreal Film Festival as the opening night presentation only to be withdrawn at the 11th hour due to sponsorship pressure. These intense feelings provoked by Karla in Canada, have translated into critical acclaim and Official Selection at prestigious film festivals in America for this gripping motion picture including the Santa Barbara., Cleveland and Palm Beach film festivals.
With powerful performances by Laura Prepon (“That 70’s Show”) and Misha Collins, this psychologically fascinating recounting of a couple that was seemingly perfect, having had a fairy tale wedding with a horse-drawn carriage, unfolds the truth: they had already begun a killing spree. The supporting cast of Karla includes Academy Award and Golden Globe nominee Tess Harper and Superman Returns star Brandon Routh.
