Ember Swift isn't selling out
Having just returned from British Columbia, it's only fitting that I tell you about Ember Swift, the band named after lead singer-songwriter Ember Swift. Arriving at Toronto University in 1995 she met bandmate Lyndell Montgomery, who would go on to become an integral part of her musical world. With Swift's involvement in various areas of activism (queer, environmental, vegan) she wasn't interested in settling either. "I am not the type to hang back and wait for approval or permission to do what I love, and so it was a logical move to establish an independent record company (Few'll Ignite Sound) and release albums on my own," she said. "Otherwise, I could still be waiting in a queue for someone to decide to invest in my art. In other words, relinquishing my political and personal integrity in order to gamble for fame just seemed ludicrous to me and still does."

well, duh, transwomen aren't real women thus she's not selling out anyone! [ end sarcasm ]
ember swift is going to be a queer sellout in my book as long as she continues to uphold the position that playing at a women's festival that excludes transwomen because they are not "real" women.
