10 gay weddings come to Halifax on Rosie O'Donnell cruise
Halifax welcomed Rosie O'Donnell and friends ashore today, the latest stop for R Family Vacations, the cruiseline company owned by O'Donnell's partner Kelli Carpenter and Gregg Kaminsky. About 2,200 other passengers disembarked and ten couples from the ship are getting married at Pier 21 in ceremonies that occur every 30 minutes. Halifax Mayor Peter Kelly is hosting a private reception for O'Donnell at the Halifax Citadel just before noon and celebrities including Cyndi Lauper, Sharon Gless, Esera Tuaolo, and Lynn Warren and Alex Ali of The Amazing Race are attending. Warren and Ali got hitched in Ottawa last month.
