Rome Gay Pride to take place despite call to cancel

rome pride Municipal Council chairman Fabio Sabbatani Schiuma thinks Gay Pride should be cancelled out of respect for the tragedy in London. "If the gay community wants to be acknowledged at an international level, it should show some respect for such tragedies, providing support and solidarity in the struggle against terrorism." Nevertheless, 50,000 are expected for a day of celebration and protest. A float featuring "gay greats" such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Oscar Wilde will lead the parade.
