Transsexual Debra-Jane Appelby is Britain's funniest woman

appelby A contest to find Britain’s funniest woman was won by someone unexpected - transsexual contestant Debra-Jane Appelby triumphed at the Funny Women competition in London’s Comedy Store, selected as the winner over 150 other hopefuls. For those keeping score, Appelby didn't mention her sex change in her act, and the judges and audience didn't know about it. With her £2,000 prize, Appelby called her victory "brilliant" saying, "The Funny Women Awards is a fantastic competition because it does more than just identify winners, it celebrates women doing stand-up and it raises money for good causes.”
