Violence erupts at Jerusalem Gay Pride

jerusalem After attempts to stop it from happening, the Gay Pride parade in Jerusalem took place on Thursday and an ultra-Orthodox Jew stabbed and wounded two or three marchers. Opponents tried to stop the march by throwing a stink bomb at the starting point, but several thousand participants paraded through the center of Jerusalem anyway, celebrating, braving shouts and insults. As the parade neared a main downtown intersection, the attacker jumped into the first group of marchers and stabbed a middle-aged man marching with his two daughters, apparently seriously wounded.

The attacker stabbed another victim, wounding him slightly, before being apprehended. When all was said and done though, it's like Moshik Toledano said, "It took many years for Jerusalem to have the gay pride parade, but once it happens, it makes no difference if the ultra-Orthodox come here and try to stop it."
