Will & Grace series finale will not be a gay wedding

mccormack Eric McCormack ruled out the possibility that Will will be marrying another man in the Will & Grace finale because he believes fans will dismiss it as a stunt. While he assured everyone that next year's series closer will please fans, he doesn't want to do anything too predictable. "I used to think a gay wedding for Will should be the way to go, but that feels a bit stunty now. It's going to be a really beautiful ending that will please long time fans." One secret he did let out is that a large number of guest stars from earlier seasons will return for the final run of episodes, which will begin airing this fall.

Bisexual Andy Dick gay manhandling men all over New York

dick Page Six reports that Andy Dick lived up to his party monster reputation early yesterday morning at the grand opening of Home, the new nightclub on West 27th Street in New York City. "We're told the booze-loving bisexual made out with an equally intoxicated male partygoer" and "grabbed, licked and groped everyone in sight - especially the male models." Somebody else on the scene squealed that Dick "literally had his hands down another man's pants - first over the pants, then in the pants."

German police keep database on gays

Germany: A report has surfaced revealing that German police keep a database which tracks all cases in which gays have been involved. The highly intrusive database also allows for subcategories to be entered against a person, such as favorite meeting places and/or preferred types of sex.

Gay men arrested and jailed in Cameroon

Cameroon: The Nlongka Brigade arrested 15 men at a night club known to be frequented by gay men. Two young women had been arrested several days earlier. The 17 have been charged with sodomy and they remain at Kondengui Central Prison.

Gay couple's Florida home torched and vandalized

fire Even though Paul Day and Christopher Robertson had previously had their mailbox riddled with shotgun pellets, the gay couple never thought it would get as bad as it did this week when they returned home to find their house torched and the words "Die Fag" spray-painted on their front steps. Lakeland Fire Department spokeswoman Cheryl Edwards ruled the case an arson with burglary. The Florida home fire had "multiple points of origin," Edwards said. Day and Robertson had just completed three months of renovations and many of their belongings, including electronics, were stolen. Robertson, 23, said, "For the past six months, I've been saying, 'I want to move; I want to move.' I don't want to be here anymore. It's stressing me out."

Moscow looks to hold first Gay Pride march

Russia: Gay rights activists will seek permission from the Moscow Mayor’s Office for the first gay parade to be held in the capital city. Such a march was cancelled in 2001 in Moscow because it was believed to run contrary to people’s religious feelings.

Lautenschlager calls for gay rights lawsuit to be dismissed

Wisconsin: Attorney General Peg Lautenschlager has asked a Dane County judge to throw out a lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union seeking domestic partnership benefits for state of Wisconsin employees. Could this be a reaction to the recent attack for her appearance at a gay rights rally?

Elizabeth Solomon wins right to say GAYSROK

solomon The state of Utah can't block Elizabeth Solomon, pictured, from using her license plate to tell the world "GAYSROK," a judge has ruled. The plate reads "Gays are OK" or "Gays Rock," and while it's not yet an outright victory for Solomon since the state can appeal, Judge Jane Phan wrote, "The narrow issue before us is whether a reasonable person would believe the terms 'gays are OK' and 'gay rights' are, themselves, offensive to good taste and decency. It is the conclusion of the commission that a reasonable person would not."

Belfast Gay Pride will take place as planned

Ireland: The Gay Pride march in Belfast will take place on August 6 as planned, the Parades Commission has ruled. The police passed the matter on to the commission for consideration after some Christian groups called for the parade to be banned.

Clear Channel's homophobia continues with billboard removal

They're taking down one of the Come Together billboard ads today in Cambridge, Massachusetts, after receiving a measly five complaints. They couldn't even let it ride through to the scheduled removal date - tomorrow. ACLU attorney Sarah Wunsch said, ''It's pathetic that Clear Channel caved in with a complaint from the Article 8 Alliance. I consider them quite a fringe, on-the-edge kind of group."

Maine gay rights law repeal goes to the ballot

Maine: Voters will decide in November whether to repeal Maine's newly enacted gay rights law, the state's chief elections officer announced after qualifying the measure for the ballot. Needless to say, the battle continues.

Feather Boa drags in the stars

The crowd is filtering in for Feather Boa, a weekly drag show that has become a tradition - and its attracted its share of Hollywood celebrities as well. Ben Affleck, Sir Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Debbie Reynolds, Alexis Arquette and others have all been spotted in the audience over the years. Justine Tyme, pictured, announces, "It's Pride Week, everybody! Happy Pride!" She pauses for effect and sips on her Molson Dry. Her face falls and she groans: "I am so tired of being Proud!" As Steven Schelling points out, "It takes a lot of work to stand up tall, head held high, and demand respect from the world around you. How much harder that must be when, like Ginger Rogers, you have to do it backwards, and in heels."

San Diego Gay Pride sex offenders resign

sex offenders Two volunteers and a staffer working on this weekend's Gay Pride festival in San Diego have resigned after police and community groups threatened to pull out. The criminal backgrounds of the two volunteers were made public two weeks ago by James Hartline, a right wing activist, while the staff person later disclosed his conviction to festival officials. All three are apparently registered sex offenders. The Pride board is will institute new screening procedures for volunteers and staff who work the event.

Queer youth included in Toronto Youth Survey

Toronto: The City of Toronto is doing a youth survey because they want to know about the issues that are important to youth, and while special efforts are being made to include queer youth, if you're in Toronto the questionnaire is available online at toronto.ca.

Bob Mould's Blowoff and Body of Song

mould Bob Mould, the openly gay indie-rock god of Hüsker Dü, Sugar and solo releases fame, recently turned DJ, says that remixing and electronica helped shape the sound of "Body of Song," his new release. At 38, out in the gay life in New York for the first time, electronica surrounded him. He told Metro Weekly, "It was just getting into my head and I wanted to be part of that, too. ... My career was not in a gay-friendly field per se. Indie rock is gay tolerant, but it's not gay friendly." Or at least it wasn't really then.

Arthur Teele commits suicide over transsexual prostitute scandal

teele Remember the Arthur Teele transsexual prostitute scandal? The politically humiliated former Miami commissioner walked into the lobby of The Miami Herald building Wednesday evening where he pulled a gun from a green canvas bag, shook the security guard's hand and asked him to relay a message before shooting himself in the head. He died less than two hours later at Jackson Memorial Hospital. What was the message? Security guard Felix Nazco explained, "He said to tell (Herald columnist Jim) DeFede to tell his wife he loves her.

Simon Martin's transvestite ways don't upset Edna Townsend

edna and martin Simon Martin, a 31-year-old organ enthusiast who married Edna Townsend, a 70-year-old pensioner and grandmother, lived a secret life as a transvestite called Sarah. Edna's response to the controversy? "If he wants to dress up in a green caterpillar suit with pink flip flops what does it matter. I don't give a monkey's." The couple have a framed picture of Simon in make-up wearing one of Edna's dresses in the front room of their UK home in Worle, Somerset. Martin and Townsend, who've been under public scrutiny due to the age difference in their relationship, discussed his taste for cross-dressing before they decided to get married.

Lee Ryan, the gay desire of Elton John, Robbie Williams

lee ryan Blue's pop heart-throb Lee Ryan, who recently went solo, thinks Sir Elton John has a crush on him. Ryan is friends with John and his partner David Furnish, and he reports that Elton is always asking him if he's gay. Ryan said, "Elton fancies me I think. He keeps asking me when I'm going to turn gay. That's one thing I am definitely not." Seriously? We aren't so sure. Robbie Williams recently said that if he were gay, Lee Ryan is a man he'd sleep with. Ryan responded to the news by saying, among other things, "Robbie's gorgeous!" Anyway, as for Ryan's relationship with Elton he says, "Elton rings me and gives me advice all the time. He tells me to stay away from drink and drugs, how to handle everything to do with being famous. He really looks after me."

Montreal gay parade on at night a hit

Montreal:Thousands lined René-Lévesque Boulevard to catch the gay parade, which began at 8 pm on Monday night - a change from the usual daytime, weekend parade. The schedule change was intended "to stir participation, to stir creativity, and I think it's working," said Suzanne Girard, director and founder.

Hong Kong: About 1,500 Baptists signed a petition published as a full-page newspaper advertisement in the Ming Pao Daily protesting any government initiative to draft laws banning discrimination against homosexuals.

Gregg Sullivan, pictured, was identified by Nyquist as the man who was just going to go downstairs for a drink of water and allegedly vanished with Nyquist's wallet, jewelry, and his grandmother's gold and bronze World Championship swimming medals from the early 1900s. Police want to take Sullivan into custody and will issue an arrest warrent if he doesn't do so voluntarily. He's refused. Sullivan, aka MRGREGGBEAR, allegedly sent threatening e-mails to Nyquist since stating, "A scorned queen can get herself hurt."

Gay couples refused blessings by Church of England

UK: The Church of England has said its priests will not offer church services or blessings to gay couples who have new civil partnership ceremonies. The first registrations for civil partnerships will be able to take place on 21 December 2005.

Gwen Araujo Retrial: Merel testifies in his own defense

araujo Jose Merel took the stand in his own defense telling his version of the events the night Gwen Araujo was brutally murdered for the first time. Merel, 25, testified he found Araujo very attractive. "She was kind of wild, I guess you would say she wasn't shy,'' Merel said. He testified he had sex with her and that the question of her biological sex arose sometime before the killing, adding that it was not a hot topic among his friends - a statement contradicted by other witnesses who testified that Merel, Magidson, Cazares and Nabors were on a mission to find out the truth. Merel said he vomited and burst into tears when he knew. "I think I was going through some kind of identity crisis because I seriously thought I was gay,'' Merel said. "Your whole life you believe you are a heterosexual and you find out you've been pleasured by a man. It disgusted me . . . Emotionally I was crushed.''

Roy Horn gaining ground or giving up?

roy horn Tiger mauling victim Roy Horn, pictured, will walk again according to the German Dr. Albert Scheller, that is providing that Horn has the will to make it happen. "He can walk now a little, but he doesn't have the confidence," said Scheller, who has been treating the Las Vegas illusionist at a clinic in Munich. Siegfried and Roy's Horn, who was reported to have been battling depression following the mauling in 2003, was "really shaky" when he first sought treatment. But the doctor says Horn's spirits have improved since he started stem-cell therapy and a detox regimen designed to get him off all the painkillers. Scheller hopes that after surgery Horn "will be able to work after three, four days."

I've Got A Secret gets GSN gay makeover

i've got a secret GSN, formerly known as the Game Show Network, is working on an updated version of the game show "I've Got a Secret." The plan is that the new one is going to be featuring an all-gay panel. The network ordered a pilot for the series which will be similar to the classic game show that had panelists try to determine each contestant's secret by cross examination. Host Bill Cullen's original, one of the longest-running game shows ever, was one of the most popular panel shows of all time. The show will also feature special celebrity guests. Burt Dubrow (Jerry Springer) and Jean Wiegman (Trivia Unwrapped) are the executive producers.

Opposing gay marriage in Texas is bullshit

cow manure Dallas gay marriage activists announced their plans to begin mailing cow manure to senators who are in favor of placing a ban on gay marriage in Texas. Their website declares that they've "begun shipping pink-painted cattle excrement" to 20 lawmakers and Republican Senators Kim Brimer of Fort Worth, Jane Nelson of Lewisville and Chris Harris of Arlington are on their "send poo" mailing list. Amanda McMurrey, spokeswoman for the U.S. Postal Inspection Service in Fort Worth, notes that, "Excrement, regardless of origin, is mailable only under certain conditions." Apparently a coat of pink paint isn't enough. McMurrey says they could face fines and a stay in federal prison. (Thanks Dan-X)

Anthony Bryant can dance, masculinity not required

anthony bryant David told me about the recent events on "So You Think You Can Dance," the American Idol spin off show about dancers that is being shown on FOX. It seems that right out of the gate they eliminated Anthony, a very talented young dancer from New York. Why? Because he didn't dance "masculine" enough. As David said, "There is no place for the feminine male to shine when they start attacking dance." Indeed. Rickey said he was the highlight of the show and called his performance one of the most entertaining fifteen minutes ever.

Gay hate crimes drop in California

California: Attorney General Bill Lockyer released the "Hate Crime in California 2004" report showing the number of hate crime events reported in California in 2004 decreased by 5.5 percent compared to 2003, with sexual orientation hate crime events decreasing by 22 percent.

Lesbian Ashley Stinson forced from her Northern Ireland home

stinson In Northern Ireland, lesbian Ashley Stinson says she's been forced from her home home saying she can't cope with the situation any longer and has been forced to move out following a series of attacks on her residence. "Ignorance, I would say, is a big part of it, if anybody is slightly different, people are afraid of them," Stinson said. Her mother's car had been attacked. A couple of nights later a fire was set in a trash can that burnt out the back of her home. The Fire Department put it out. On another night they went to a nightclub with a friend and left his car at her home. "We came back and his car was stole off the drive, smashed up and left across the street." Most recently her window was smashed out. Police figures have shown a steep increase in homophobic incidents in Northern Ireland.

2400 gay couples have wed in Belgium

Belgium: 2,442 same-sex couples have married in Belgium since same-sex marriages were legalized in September of 2003, according to the Interior Ministry. A total of 3 percent of all marriages in Belgium are now between partners of the same sex.

Big Gay Out scores with Bananarama, loses with Babyshambles

bananarama London's Big Gay Out, one of the largest gay festivals in Europe, took place this past weekend with the likes of Frankie Goes To Hollywood performing, Human League, and if that wasn't enough of a blast from the past, after 13 years off the scene Bananarama, pictured, now a duo featuring Sarah Dallin and Keren Woodward, hit the stage as well. They have a new single being released soon too called "Move In My Direction," just in case you were wondering. Anyway, who wasn't there was Babyshambles. Big Gay Out organizers had insisted Pete Doherty would perform at the Finsbury Park event, but they scored themselves another no show. Rumor has it Doherty has sacked his bandmantes and no progress is even being made on the buzz band's debut album.

Azerbaijan opposition leader Ali Kerimli isn't gay

Azerbaijan: Ali Kerimli, a top opposition leader, defended his track record as a heterosexual after accusing the oil-rich state's authorities of launching a gay smear campaign against him. "If anyone has doubts about my manliness, let them send me their wives and they will become convinced of my prowess for themselves."

Arizona: Five years ago at Arizona State University, Sigma Phi Beta emerged to become the first national, collegiate-based gay fraternity organization and with the creation and adoption of a new national charter, gay frat loving college students can found new chapters at other campuses.

Court hears gay agent Rod Hall was killed in SM role play

hall Rod Hall, 53, the openly gay "gentle, caring and mild-mannered" literary agent behind the hit films "The Full Monty" and "Billy Elliot," was stabbed to death by Usman Durrani, 22, after being chained up in manacles in a sado-masochistic sex game. Prosecuting attorney Aftab Jafferjee said that Hall had recently split with his partner of 27 years and had taken to short-term relationships, meeting men apparently more interested in his money. Hall met his role-playing master Durrani online. Durrani has confessed to killing Hall, while denying that he is the murderer.

Falwell believes gay kids should be forced into therapy

North Carolina: Jerry Falwell compared allowing a child to identify as gay with allowing children to play on the interstate. Speaking at an ex-gay conference Falwell endorsed forcing gay kids into counseling designed to change their sexual orientation.

Signature gathering can begin for Calif gay marriage ban

California: Attorney General Bill Lockyer released a summary of a proposed constitutional amendment highlighting how same-sex couples will be stripped of their domestic partner rights while also banning gay marriage. The homophobes may now begin gathering the 598,105 signatures they need to try and put it on the June 2006 ballot.

Gay clergy can get married, but no sex

UK: The Church of England will allow gay clergy to enter into civil partnerships, but only if they promise to not have sex, according to guidance issued yesterday. In a "pastoral statement", the House of Bishops said that clergy would be able to take advantage of the Civil Partnerships Act.

"I have been going out dressed like this for years. Everybody in Buckley knows me," he said. "Young women anxious about being alone with a stranger find it comforting that I'm gay."

Brownsville gay bar Heart Rock Club torched by arsonist

heart rock fire Arson is being blamed in Brownsville for a fire that basically totalled the Heart Rock Club, a gay nightclub that once proudly displayed a 25-foot gay pride flag over its doorway. It took nearly half a dozen fire trucks several hours to extinguish. Owners called it a hate crime directed against Brownsville’s gay community. “What else could it be?” owner Sylvia Armente said outside the club. First the inside of the club was vandalized and then the building was gutted by flames. Assistant Fire Chief Randy Russell said, “They started fires in four or five little areas … on the floor and on some furniture.”

Big Brother 6 UK's Craig: 80% of everyone is bisexual

craig The latest queer antics on the UK's Big Brother 6 had Craig, pictured, insisting that 80% of people are bisexual. Kemal commented that he was originally bisexual with a "50-50" attraction to men and women, although now his preferences run 70% men, 30% women. Oddly, this fact surprised Craig - "I would personally not have thought you were bisexual at all," he said. Kemal responded, "It's not that I'm repulsed by sleeping with a woman. I would sleep with a woman - I have slept with a woman. But I'm more towards the gay side now." Craig copped to the fact that he's not bisexual at all, even though he hasn't said a word about his actual orientation.

Latvian gay pride parade met with protest

riga pride The government said it wouldn't happen, but thanks to a court order the very first Gay Pride parade in Latvia was held this weekend in the capital of Riga. The marchers, however, were met by protesters hurling eggs and verbal abuse and as police surrounded the march to protect those taking part, a number of protesters were arrested. Police altered the planned route out of concern for the marchers safety, who were outnumbered by the homophobic opposition.

Sun City cancels Lady Chablis show for being inappropriate

lady chablis The Lady Chablis, made famous by the best-selling book and film "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil," didn't know that her performance in Sun City had been cancelled. An official pulled the plug on the show saying her act wasn't suitable for the community. Robert Mahnke, who admitted he'd never seen her act, blamed a breakdown in communication in his office for the show being advertised and for tickets being sold. "I don't understand how someone could make this decision when they haven't seen my show," The Lady Chablis said. "You wouldn't go to Saks 5th Avenue and buy a dress if you hadn't tried it on."

Transgender adolescents win right to block puberty

wallbank In Australia, five NSW adolescents won permission to undergo the first stage of gender-transitional treatment in NSW Family Court. In an application supported by family members, Dr. Louise Newman called for the use the hormones to delay pubertal changes because they would prove distressing and unacceptable to the child. Lawyer Rachael Wallbank, pictured, a transsexual herself, said she presented the Family Court with evidence that puberty-blockers were reversible and could save the child from self-harm or suicide.

Dr. Clifford Smyth comes out about his cross-dressing

smyth UK historian Dr. Clifford Smyth announced that he's spent most of his life fighting the urge to wear women's clothing. The well-known unionist commentator wrote a frank and honest account of his interest in cross-dressing entitled, "Dealing With My Sexual Brokenness." And now Sunday Life has published an exclusive photo of Smyth's alter ego, "Deirdre Blanchflower," pictured, taken at a charity Christmas function in Belfast in 1993.

lady bunny Matthew Hays interviewed Wigstock wonder woman Lady Bunny, who will be appearing as part of Montreal's Divers/Cité line-up, and she let the fur fly about fashion and Dubya. "I think fashion itself has gone out of fashion. In today's shaky economy, who the hell can afford to buy a $500 belt which will be out of style in a year? The world is falling apart. Why not donate the $500 to some organization like moveon.org that's trying to stop the monster George Bush?" So what's on her wishlist while she's in Montreal? "How about a donkey-dicked, uncut, French stud? Of course, I love the dark ones that have a little Moroccan in them. I've had a little Moroccan in me as well!" I'm sure you have Bunny, I'm sure you have.

Oregon gay civil unions bill gutted by House leaders

Oregon: House Republican leaders, seeking to ensure the demise of a Senate-passed civil unions bill for same-sex couples, gutted the measure and replaced it with a "reciprocal benefits" alternative. House Speaker Karen Minnis previously said she had no intention of allowing a House vote on the Senate bill to open up to same-sex couples hundreds of benefits only available to married couples.

First gay pride parade in Latvia under fire

Latvia: The first gay pride parade in Latvia, set to take place in the capital of Riga this weekend, has drawn fierce criticism from the right-wing and even threats of a blockade by nationalist groups. Riga's city executive director promised to revoke the participants’ parade permit.
