Gwen Araujo murder retrial hears from forensic pathologist
Dr. Sharon Van Meter, the forensic pathologist who performed Gwen Araujo's autopsy, testified on Monday in the retrial saying that Araujo died of asphyxia due to strangulation associated with blunt trauma to the head. Van Meter described two lacerations on the top of Araujos head and ligature marks on her neck. Her body had been trussed up with more than 37 feet of rope and wrapped in a flannel sheet and a quilt. Both Magidson and Merel, who did not testify during the first trial, will be taking the stand this time around. The trial could last until the end of August.
