Tab Hunter Confidential reveals gay affairs with Tony Perkins, Rudolf Nureyev
Lady loving gossipmonger Liz Smith has revealed that "Tab Hunter Confidential," the actor's new memoir, reveals the real story behind Hunter's two-year affair with the late Tony Perkins, during their joint early stardom. It's not the lurid kiss-and-tell some were expecting, although he does write about his fling with Rudolf Nureyev (there's even a sexy photo included of the two of them in small swimsuits on the Riviera). And although the book is discreet, it does reveal the suffering Hunter experienced staying in the closet, more or less accepting the false role he was required to play — the straight screen sex symbol. And of course he rocked the world again in John Water's Polyester.
