Gay rights win and lose in Colorado

bill owens While some are busy calling Colorado Springs the Holy Land, the Governor of Colorado itself vetoed one bill that would have provided gay employment rights, while signing another that added gays and the disabled to the list of those protected from hate crimes. So in case you weren't paying attention, apparently it's okay to fire us randomly for being queer, but it's not okay to kill us. Got it? Owens said he vetoed it because it would have prompted a rash of lawsuits, while failing to acknowledge there could be very good reasons for them.
