Mrs. Oregon pageant director denied letter by Portland mayor
The director of the Mrs. Oregon America pageant says Portland's mayor is discriminating against her organization. Each year the pagent asks for a letter from the mayor to congratulate the contestants. This year the mayor's office declined. "We reviewed your request and will have to decline... The city of Portland does not discriminate based on sexual orientation." The pageant director has cried heterosexual discrimination claiming the pageant defines marriage as the legal union of one man and one woman according to state law. "He is really discriminating against heterosexual organizations," Libby Crawford told KOIN. Pictured is Kym Wylder, Mrs. Oregon 2004.
