Dr. Who gets gay companion in John Barrowman

barrowman We've told you that the new Dr. Who is coming to the BBC, but we didn't know that John Barrowman (shown) will be playing Dr. Who's gay companion on the British television show. Written by Queer As Folk creator Russell T. Davies, the new Dr. Who will be going places the time/space travelers never went before. Barrowman came out officially a few months ago after being cast in the show and his character, Captain Jack Harkness, will make his first apearance in a World War II story in full military uniform. Barrowman, however, is apparently a time traveller though and he winds up joining Dr. Who and his other companion Rose for future adventures. The show is filming in Cardiff, Wales, and they've apparently made an impression on the local gay scene there too. Here's a preview of the brand new Dr. Who.
