New Zealand students don't feel safe
New Zealand high schools have a long way to go before gay, lesbian and bisexual pupils feel safe attending them, an Otago academic said this week. Only 5% of pupils and 8% of teachers thought homosexual pupils would feel safe at their high school, University of Otago School of Education research fellow Dr Karen Nairn told a meeting of about 20 members of Parents, Family and Friends of Lesbians and Gays in Dunedin.
