Nation reacts to Bush's anti-marriage statements
Karla Rikansrud of Denver, Colo., who's talking about a commitment ceremony with her partner of 12 years says she's not that surprised President Bush would say that marriage needs to remain restricted to male-female couples. "It was to be expected," she says. "The critical mass of Americans are fair-minded and accepting of gay and lesbian people." Meanwhile, U.S. Rep. Marilyn Musgrave of Colorado says, "Today is a good day for the American family. President Bush is right to make this a national priority and to begin taking action in the defense of marriage."
