New York state proposes protecting gay kids from harassment
A proposed change to New York state education law called the "Dignity for All Students Act" would protect students from harassment and discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, disability, and sexual orientation. The Rochester City School board will discuss the new measure during a public meeting on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at district headquarters. Student Breana Williams is relieved. "Even walking down the hall at school [when] people find out you're gay, bi, transgendered, or transsexual [they] go crazy - and it's hard when there's no one you can go to and nothing to protect us."
