Canadian Catholic s want to argue marriage issue in court

The Canadian Conference of Catholic s decided yesterday it will ask the Supreme Court of for permission to argue its case during a hearing on a draft federal bill to allow same-sex couples to wed. The government has asked the top court for an opinion on whether the legislation is constitutional. "I know the minister has said, 'Why do you worry about it? Religions will be able to do what they want.' We feel that religions also have to talk about the common good of society and it's in that sense that we're speaking," said Monsignor Peter Schonenbach.
