Another Tennessee lawmaker against gay marriage
Maybe it's just a lot of talk at recess. While Congress takes a week off, Rep. Zach Wamp of Chattanooga added his name to the sponsors of a bill to create a constitutional amendment banning recognition of same-sex marriages. Fellow Tennessean Bill Frist, the Senate majority leader, endorsed an amendment on Sunday. But four other Tennessee members had varying opinions short of such action. So far, only 26 of 435 members of the House of Representatives favor such an amendment. Another member of the Volunteer State contingent, Rep. John J. Duncan Jr. did not comment on whether he favored an amendment but noted, "It is sad that there is so much homosexuality in the country today." KnoxNews
