Transgender woman wins first Tasmanian anti-discrimination suit
Australian Roz Houston is the first transgender person to win sexual harassment damages before her region's Anti-Discrimination Tribunal. She's also the first to win against a neighbor. Houston's former neighbor called her names for years and physically assaulted her on one occasion. He also assaulted an elderly neighbor who was with Houston. Houston, who said the decision should act as a warning to everyone: "There is no excuse for ignorance," won a judgment of $4,000 Australian, which we're hoping is a lot more money than it sounds like.
