35 participate in first pride march in India

Around 35 gay activists, some of them wearing earrings and bright lipstick, walked in silence through the streets of Kolkata holding a single multi-coloured flag they said represented the gays rights movement in India, as passers-by gawked at them. Homosexuality inhabits a grey area in India, which mandates punishment of people for indulging in sexual relations "against the order of nature".
